Description Plants electing 100-150cm tall. Leaves 15-35cm long. Flowers head ca. 3.5-5cm across, red purple corollas 17-21mm long, flowering in September to October. Perennial plants.

Note Many Japanese authors believe that Synurus deltoides (Aiton) Nakai (syn. However Missouri Botanical Garden's W3TROPICS regards Synurus pungens as a synonym of Synurus deltoides.
This issue should be resolved by DNA analysis.
